Following this thread I made a silent install for Roxio Creator Plus that works, and also solves the you get when Windows Media Player 11 is installed. Here is what I did today: Copied all files from the Roxio Creator Plus - Dell Edition CD to a folder. Downloaded the Data204Plus.exe patch that fixes the mediahub/WMP11 error from Roxio: Extracted the patch using WinZip to a folder.
Folder name Data204Plus. Copied the extracted patch files into the SCData204 subfolder. Edited the MSI packages in each folder following the method outline here, to remove registration: (Thanks Joe!) I created a folder named REMOVED and copied the EXPRESSLABELER20 and UPDATEMANAGERMSI folders into it, as I don't want to install the labeler or the update manager for our users. Then I run the install using the following command-line: setup.exe /NORESTART /qn RXEULAACCEPTED=1 ADDLOCAL=ALL The setup completes, and the program runs fine after a reboot, doesn't nag users to register or accept the EULA, the update manager doesn't try to run or produce pop-ups, and no CD labels jam our printers.
All, The script below works great from the Altiris Deployment Console. As you can see, I have removed the D2D and the Update Manager. Both, in my case, are useless.
My Dell laptop (Latitude D820) came with Roxio Creator Plus Dell Edition for use with the built in DVD burner. I believe this odd OEM version is built based on Easy CD Creator 7. Sometimes you need to burn bootable CDs for Windows. Mostly this is necessary when you want to create a Windows installer disc to reformat and install a fresh OS. While Roxio Creator Plus Dell Edition does have the option to make a CD bootable, it doesn’t appear to actually work. It requires you supply an image of the boot code (no problem, I have several such working image files, and they are easily found on the internet as well.) However, after burning the 'bootable' disc it doesn’t boot the computer giving me an error code 4.
This is only a theory but I believe it is picking the wrong emulation type. There isn’t a dialog or setting that lets you manually control the emulation type (as there is on other versions of Creator) however, the Help File says:. An emulation format is selected based on the size of the image you select:. If the image is 1.44 MB or less, a bootable CD or DVD will be created that your computer sees as a 1.44 MB floppy disk. When you start your computer using this bootable CD or DVD, the disc will automatically be assigned drive letter A. If the image is between 1.44 and 2.88 MB, a bootable CD or DVD will be created that your computer sees as a 2.88 MB floppy disk.
When you start your computer using this bootable CD or DVD, the disc will automatically be assigned drive letter A. If the image is larger than 2.88 MB, a bootable CD or DVD will be created that your computer sees as a hard disk partition. When you start your computer using this bootable CD or DVD, the disc will automatically be assigned drive letter C. Well thanks Roxio for taking out (or breaking) a very important feature in your software. In the full Creator software, you have the ability to choose the emulation type yourself. And for the record, I have yet to see a boot image larger than 1.44MB so it appears it will always choose floppy disk emulation.
Interestingly I’ve heard from several people who have non Dell OEM versions of Easy CD/DVD Creator 7 and 8 (which as I said do give you the manual option of choosing emulation) yet still are not correctly making bootable discs. Roxio, care to comment? So if you’re like me, at the office, all you have is this version of Roxio software that won’t make a bootable CD (even though it claims it will.) What can you do? If only Nero had a 30 day free trial download or something. There is hope is a pretty amazing free (donations accepted) software package that not only will create a bootable Windows install image but it will burn it to a CD bypassing the need for Creator at all, AND it allows you to easily slipstream new service packs into your install.
Now I went ahead and downloaded, tried it out, and it worked great! If you are creating a bootable Windows install CD whether you want to slipstream hotfixes and service packs in your installation or not, this is the app to use!

I have just fixed my Record now program with the roxio fix for the media hub conflict. Earlier, I Removed the pre installed Dell program and then re installed with the Dell discs sonic program They sent me.
This did not solve the problem until I discovered the fix so I uninstalled all my Roxio programs and downloaded the fix all has gone well but for one thing the Check for updates area has disappeared and I am a bit baffled because all the product help information on the website does not cover the Dell edition. I know for sure I deleted the Roxio update manager. I would like to know how to get the update manager back that covers The Roxio Creator plus Dell Edition.
I glad to be using the product again with the media hub problem solved, the media hub problem almost made the product unusable. Naturally I would like to check for and receive product updates to keep it working properly All help appreciated PS I have registered the product Edited April 13, 2007 by burn122. It seems the information about The Dell version is different. The product information is very confusing and hard to match up with what the actual products that are on the Roxio website I will provide what I think is relevant: Module Name: Roxio Creator Plus Dell Edition Build: 2.4.32b Module Name: PX Engine Build: 3.4.46a, 1 Module Name: Roxio RecordNow Data Version: 2.0.4 Build: 204B37I, RCP As you can see what product on the website shall I register it with to receive up dates?
All help appreciated Edited April 13, 2007 by burn122. You can download the update manager here: If you're looking for it to replace software, that's not going to happen. You need to contact Dell if that's where you originally got yout software or Sonic Thank you Kevin I have downloaded the update manager. I am just wondering what version of sonic record now I am running it indicates 2.0.4 I had version v.7 before from the dell disc that was sent after I removed the original preinstalled stuff. I was just wondering what updates I would need to download if I was prompted to download.
I am a bit baffled by what version I am running and what I would need to download. Is it safe to install the other stuff on the v.7 disc like le dvd? Will the update manager only give me updates for the version I am running? Will the update manager prompt me automatically or will I need to check for updates? I am sorry about all the questions I am a bit confused. Thanks for your help. Hi Burn122, I'm experiencing quite similar problem with Dell and Roxio.
But I wasn't lucky as you!!! When I trie to re-install the software, using the media that came with the machine, all it seems to works fine. But after reboot, I immediately receive an error 'DLACTRLW.EXE' that can't be initialize correctly. So, the DLA (Drive Letter Access), won't go on Windows (XP x64).
Do you mind tell me how you have the mediahub error fixed? Dell support told me to download an isumhotfix executable, that I tried to run after re-installing Roxio.
But nothing has happened.the DLA still doesn't work. I really appreciate any suggestion!!! Hi Burn122, I'm experiencing quite similar problem with Dell and Roxio. But I wasn't lucky as you!!!

Help appreciated Hi burn122, Thank you very much for your suggestions. Unfortunately, it doesn't work. Also, during the installation, the setup finds that the version of record now data downloaded from the link you provided, is older than the version of the cd (sigh!). Sorry, I can't help you with your problem. I tried to contact Dell, but the only thing that they suggest, is to re-install the OS.unbelivable.

I can't reinstall the Roxio software. It can on my computer 2 years ago and I did not get a disc for it. Like I said I am still very new to compute use and I think I might have deleted these files running a registry clean up (free scan) which I thought I need to do and have since found out I shouldn't be doing it! When I check my McAfee systems guard log, it says a one time change has been allowed on your computer and states the following: Rule Type: Registry Process: C: Program Files Common Files Sonic Shared Sonic Central Main Mediahub.exe Process Version: 2.04.32 HKEYLOCALMACHINE SOFTWARE Microsoft Windows CurrentVersion policies explorer BackupNoCDBurning Does this mean anything?
Roxio suggested that I just upgrade to a newer version, but all I really want to do with it is copy a CD or two and not much more. Thanks for your help. I can't reinstall the Roxio software. Thanks for your help. Click to expand. If the registry cleaning tool you used had a backup/restore function, now's the time to use it - see if whatever it did can be reversed. Or try using System Restore to go back to a time just before you unleashed this registry tool. Maybe approach wherever you got the PC from and see if they'll let you have a Roxio CD now. Game crack. (An unlikely route, but worth a shot.) Check whether these DLL files are actually.missing. DLLs are usually in C: Windows System32 but may also be in your Roxio program directory. (You may have to enable 'all files' to be seen in Windows Explorer in order to find them.) I don't see any reason why a.registry.
cleaning tool should remove DLL files. Again, what makes you think it's these files in particular that are missing? Are you getting an error message?

If so, please quote it in full. If they ARE missing, see if you've got copies of them somewhere else on your PC - maybe search your dllcache folder in C: Windows system32 or in i386. (Or maybe even download them from a reliable source.) If you have them, you might be able to put copies back in C: Windows system32. Whichever way you might find them, you could try to register them: Start Run regsvr32 c: windows system32 filename.dll one by one, or Start Run regsvr32 'c: Program Files Roxio somethingorother filename.dll' or wherever the files are. (Note - if there are spaces in what you need to put after 'regsvr32', you will need to enclose it in quotes, as I have above) This may well not work - who knows what else the registry 'cleaner' did to your system? Furthermore, you may have issues with different versions of the DLLs floating around.
Alternatively, as it's just for light use and you don't seem to need all the other functionality of your Roxio program, look for free CD copying software: or elsewhere. Not entirely sure, but I don't think the McAfee log is anything to worry about. It allowed the change - other people have had it blocked by anti-malware programs and lost CD/DVD functionality (Google 'backupnocdburning').
